Starry Centerpiece

I recently moved across the country back to my home town. I left without job prospects and without doubt that I would find a job easily. Well, that hasn’t happened in the way I envisioned it, but the universe is stirring things up for me I can feel it. Needless to say no job = no money. But it also means more creativity.

My boyfriends parents are coming to visit this month so I wanted to make the house look more like a house and less like a storage unit. Here’s an easy almost free DIY project.

STARRY CENTERPIECE

Picture
  1. I used empty cardboard coffee containers from Trader Joes. The coffee itself was $4.99, but I needed that anyway.
  2. Tools used are an exact-o knife, pen and paint. Later I needed to buy a battery powered candle.
  3. I chose stars as my pattern but you can choose whatever you like. First I drew the star pattern onto the container with a pencil and then I began to cut the stars out. This part is a bit tedious.
  4. I chose copper as my final paint color, you can choose whatever color you like. I used spray paint. The inside looked messy because some of the paper tore so I painted on the inside too. Waiting for it to dry...
  5. Since these are paper containers it is not a good idea to use a real candle so I bought these battery powered ones. And they still glow with the top on.

Tools

exact-o knife (any craft store will sell it)

spray paint (bought at home depot)

coffee containers (from Trader Joes)

battery powered candle
